On September 27, Japan’s largest regional economy event, POTLUCK FES & AWARD ’24, was held at POTLUCK YAESU (5th floor, Tokyo Midtown Yaesu). Takahiro Tsubonuma, representative of Shibuya Fertilizer LLC (hereafter, Shibuya Fertilizer), a second-term participant in CIRCULAR STARTUP TOKYO, delivered a presentation as a finalist in the final evaluation round.
POTLUCK FES aims to revitalize regional economies and foster innovation from local communities. Simultaneously, the POTLUCK AWARD program achknowledge and promotes initiatives that contribute to the future of local regions. Out of 142 entries nationwide, 12 finalists were selected, with 10 presenting their initiatives to an audience and a panel of judges. From these, one grand prize and two runner-up prizes were awarded.
Unfortunately, Shibuya Fertilizer did not receive an award, but Tsubonuma shared his thoughts:
“Participating alongside entrepreneurs dedicated to regional businesses and leaders nurturing their communities offered me an invaluable opportunity to reflect on the question, ‘What role can we play in society?’ I aim to further explore the potential created by connecting urban and regional areas, rather than seeing them in opposition.”
Shibuya Fertilizer operates with the vision of transforming Shibuya from a “final destination of consumption” into “a new starting point for circular systems.” The organization leads projects that transform waste into resources, fostering new cycles of sustainability.
